What Is Digest and What Does It Do?
Table of Contents
Supernote's Digest functionality is a powerful tool for collating and organizing knowledge from your documents, notes, and various sources. Here's a breakdown of what it is and how it works:
Think of it as your personal knowledge hub. When you're reading a PDF, an ebook, or even reviewing your handwritten notes, you can capture important excerpts, which are your "digests" that you store in one centralized place: the Digest app. It's designed to help you build meaningful connections between information, making it easier to revisit and use what you've learned .
The true power of the Digest feature lies in its evolution. With recent updates, you can now create digests from multiple sources, not just documents . You can then organize them with categories and add your own thoughts, turning scattered information into a structured and searchable personal knowledge base.
How to Create Digests
You can create digests from three main sources on your Supernote:
-
From Documents (PDF, EPUB, etc.): While reading a document, you can draw a square bracket (
[ ]) in one stroke before and after the text you want to capture. Alternatively, you can use the text selection pen to highlight the text and tap the digest icon in the pop-up menu . - From Your Own Notes: In a note file, circle a section of your handwriting with the lasso tool. Tap the three-dot menu and select "Recognize as Text" to convert it and save it as a digest . Alternatively, you can tap "Recognize as Digest" to convert it as a digest directly.
- Manual Entry: You can open the dedicated Digest app and manually type in a digest using the on-screen keyboard. This is perfect for capturing ideas from any other source.
How to Organize and Use Digests
The revamped Digest app is your control center for all your captured information. Here’s what you can do within the app:
| Feature | Function |
| Categories | Create custom categories to group related digests (e.g., by project, topic, or book). |
| Sources | View your digests organized by their origin—whether from Documents, Notes, or Manual Entry. |
| Details | Tap any digest to see key information like its source, author, and the date it was last updated. |
| Annotations | Add your own thoughts, ideas, or comments to any digest using handwriting or the keyboard. |
| Manage | Long-press a digest to export, move it to a different category, or delete it. |
Beyond the Digest app, these excerpts are integrated into the broader Supernote ecosystem. For example, you can even configure your screensaver to display a rotating carousel of your digests. The Supernote Partner app also syncs your digests, allowing you to view and manage them on your phone or computer.
